|Program Mgr., IS Management II|
Project/Program management position within the IT Program Management Office (PMO) that utilizes program management disciplines leading projects to optimize IT investments that support Choice Hotels International business strategies. Manages middle to large, moderate to complex projects ensuring the overall successful delivery of Business functionality and IT deliverables. . Build and maintain relationships across the organization, with IT and key business areas which rely on successful IT project implementation.
This position is an individual contributor. Does not have direct reports.
III. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES % of Time Essential (E)
Initiate, plan, and lead moderate to complex, medium to high priority, business sponsored IT projects/programs from start to finish. Duties include but are not limited to: defining scope, assessing impacts, identifying stakeholders, acquiring a team, and developing a plan, timeline and budget.
Manage and control project budget, scope, timeline, quality, and costs. Analyze issues and risks, and take the lead in developing and implementing mitigation plans and solutions in partnership with the impacted stakeholders. Apply proper change controls and escalate when needed. Ensure phase gate controls are met in order for projects to proceed. 25% E,1,2,3,4,5
Responsible for overall project budget & program communications, ensuring project team, stakeholders, and management are properly informed. Develop relationships at all levels of the organization, acting as a trusted partner. Use influence and negotiation skills to drive projects, clear roadblocks, and resolve conflicts. Duties include but are not limited to: periodic updates & reporting such as status, steering committee meetings, and project team meetings. 25% E,1,5
Leverage IT PMO methodology & tools to effectively perform project management functions while supporting the maturation of IT PMO methodology. This includes refining the IT PMO processes, procedures, templates, and functionality within supporting tools & applications. 15% E,5
Assist with special projects or initiatives as directed by PMO Manager. 15% N
II. SKILLS, EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
Education, Experience and Knowledge
1. Bachelors degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. AND,
2. A minimum of five years experience managing programs and projects.
Understanding and familiarity with project management, program management and portfolio management best practices.
Excellent, verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Excellent time management, project management and organizational skills.
Strong sense of business acumen and ability to align project deliverables with strategic initiativesStrong analytical and problem solving skills to include reasoning skills such as storage, retrieval, matching and execution skills.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel; in the use of project management software such as Clarity.
