I. SUMMARY STATEMENT

The SSRS Business Intelligence Developer I creates reporting solutions primarily using Microsoft SSRS. This includes assisting in the development of reporting for decision support systems, dash-boarding and key performance indicators (KPIs). Responsibilities include requirements gathering, performing build activities, testing and deployment for basic projects. This role supports end users, developers and technical support staff. The SSRS BI Developer typically works on low complexity reporting projects/assignments and may assist on mid-level and high-level complexity projects/assignments under the direction of more-senior BI Developers and management staff.

III. PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES % of Time Essential (E)
Non-Essential (NE)
Using SSRS, assists with all phases of reporting projects, including testing, administration, technical support and documentation 50% E
Supports additional BI activities, including post-production issue analysis, problem resolution, troubleshooting and maintenance. 20% E
Maintains BI tool documentation. Reviews and documents existing reporting and delivers accurate reporting based on internal customer requests. Assists with configuration management, build and release duties 20% E
Under the direction of Level II, III and Sr. BI Developer staff, assists with medium complexity BI projects/implementations/reporting 5% E
Keeps up on industry trends and current technological standards, tools and operational considerations. Makes suggestions for process, implementation, and performance improvements. Assists with Disaster Recovery tests 5% NE

IV. REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Education, Experience and Knowledge
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, from a four-year college or university, or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years relevant experience in business intelligence, information systems, IT, or equivalent
Understanding of Microsoft business intelligence tools, development platforms and environments




Skills
Experience with:
o SSRS - SQL Server Reporting Services
o Creating SQL statements and stored procedures
Understanding of additional technologies is a plus, such as:
o Java, C# or equivalent
o Additional Microsoft BI tools, such as SSAS/SSIS
o Code management processes (check-in/check-out, version control)
Understanding of/Experience with Agile w/SCRUM software development methodology
Understanding of database reporting tools, analytic tools, query tools and interfaces
Understanding of data warehousing concepts and database technologies
Strong analytical skills
Strong verbal, written and listening communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and demeanor.
Proficient in the use of MS Office applications, such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
