The Data Warehouse Architect is responsible for creating a robust, sustainable technical and data architecture for the enterprise data warehouse (EDW) that supports business information requirements/objectives, provides for expansion and is compatible with corporate and external information systems.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Development Standards and Methodologies: Develop, implement and enforce the data warehouse design and development standards and methodologies for the metadata repository, ETL applications, operational data stores and data marts
Project Requirements Definition: Verify program requirements with the business customer to determine information needs and assist with creation of technical requirements
Data Models: Design, develop and document the logical and physical data models for the EDW
System Maintenance: Work with database administrators, system administrators, BI team and vendors to implement EDW database installations and upgrades, BI software installations and upgrades, disk allocation, data fragmentation strategy, performance tuning, database archives and performance problem resolution
Architecture Evaluation: Evaluate and select various data warehousing tools, software and hardware to support the EDW architecture
Data Integrity: Analyze and monitor the source and target data to ensure data integrity
System Utilization: Monitors the system usage and performs capacity planning for the EDW
Budget Planning: Communicates budget recommendations for EDW resources, training, software and hardware requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education/Experience/Knowledge
*Bachelors degree or equivalent years of experience
*Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent years of experience is desired
*Minimum of three years prior experience working in UNIX/Windows environment
*Minimum of three prior Java development experience
*Minimum of five year experience with data warehousing technologies such as ETL, ODS, DBMS, BI.
*Minimum of five year data modeling (normalized and multidimensional) experience
*Prior experience with database administration and performance monitoring
*Possess current knowledge of the data warehouse market: vendors, technologies, standards bodies, etc.
*Possess strong business acumen
Skills
*Erwin or RDA data modeling experience preferred
*Business Objects experience preferred
*Prior experience in hospitality industry nice to have
*Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills
*Excellent organizational/time management/prioritizing skills
*Strong diagnostic and documentation skills
*Strong analytical and product management skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
*Proficient in a Windows environment; in the use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook; and in the use of internet browsers such as Internet Explorer.
